Descant is a practice tool for choir singers: your part, one phrase at a time, judged as you sing it. If something is in the way, here is how to reach us, and the answers to the questions that come up first.

Common questions

  • It cannot hear meAllow the microphone when asked — on an iPhone, Settings → Descant → Microphone. Wear headphones: without them the microphone hears the track as well as you, and the pass cannot be judged.
  • A pass said “didn’t count”Descant heard too little to judge — the microphone was off, the track drowned you out, or nothing was sung. Try again with headphones on.
  • How does a phrase become mine?Three passes in a row at your scoring level. It then comes back for review, less and less often, so it stays yours.
  • I do not see my choir, or any piecesA director invites you and uploads the music. Without a choir, the open pieces on the Library shelf are yours to sing on your own. If you belong to more than one choir, pick the one you want from the sidebar.
  • It says I am offlineToday and the phrases you have already opened work without a connection. New pieces, uploads and the printed score need one. Passes sung offline are saved on your device and sent when you are back.
  • Delete my accountSettings → Delete my account. Everything of yours goes, and cannot be brought back; your choir keeps its music.
